SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA GEORGE HERNDON GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP IN COMMUNICATION DISORDERS
INTRODUCTION: The George Herndon Graduate Scholarship in
Communication Disorders was initiated to provide financial support for a student
formally admitted to the Graduate Program in Communication Disorders at Arkansas
State University. The scholarship
funds are held in trust by the ASU Foundation, Inc., as an interest bearing
account. As such, the actual value
of the annual scholarship will vary based on the interest accrued by the account
and the number of contributions made by donors to the principal value of the
account. The scholarship recipient will be selected during
their second term of graduate enrollment and the funds will be remitted at the
beginning of the spring semester. The
Scholarship Selection Committee will have, as a result, student academic and
clinical performance information from the summer and fall enrollments to assist
them in making the final selection. The Scholarship Selection Committee will be comprised
of four members; the Communication Disorders Program Director, two members of
the Communication Disorders faculty, and one representative of the Regional
Association for Communicative Disorders. The Scholarship Selection Committee will accept applications
through November 1st each year and will name a scholarship recipient
by December 1st. The
scholarship will then be awarded to the recipient for use in the spring
semester. The scholarship funds may
be used for tuition, fees, books, or expenses incurred while completing a thesis
or other research endeavor.
